I am considering Cosmetic Dentistry surgery for my teeth...?

but there is a few questions I would like to ask.Ok,well,I know they drill down your teeth to fix like gaps and stuff.but as I get older, will they come the same as they were before the surgery?

And also,I can still straighten my teeth with cosmetic dentistry, correct?well if so,I won't need braces or anything?or will they just go back to normal after a while?

I am considering Cosmetic Dentistry surgery for my teeth...?
The fix is permanent but not maintenance free. You will always have to pay attention to your grill because your teeth are capped.
Reply:Veneers work wonders on gaps and crooked teeth. They are essentially a quick fix if you don't want to go through the awkwardness of braces. No, you won't need to get braces, the cosmetic dentist will just fit veneers over your existing teeth, and the end result is astounding! If you have any questions, you should go for a consultation with a cosmetic dentist.

Anyone ever have cosmetic dentistry?

Recently I have been thinking about cosmetic dentistry, unfortunately it is so expensive I cannot afford it. Insurance does not cover cosmetic dentistry unless it was a result of an accident.

I am so ashamed of my teeth. I regret not taking better care of my teeth when I was younger, I feel bitter that my parents never gave me braces when I was younger because they couldn't afford to, I feel bitter that my parents didn't force me to take better care of my teeth. My parents fiqured they have bad teeth so whats the big deal that their son will too. They are couple of the best parents I could ask for, but I really am bitter at them for not caring about my dental health when I was a kid. I remeber many dentists scolding my parents for not taking me to the dentist and for not looking after my teeth. It is not all their fault, I admit I was the one who was careless with my teeth. My parents never stressed the importance of dental health when I was a kid, so I didn't think it was important.

Sounds like you are blaming your parents for all things wrong with you, they are not as much at fault as you think, I think you need a Therapist then a Dentist

Cosmetic dentistry question?

Does anyone (any dental hygenist or other person) know what product is used in cosmetic dentistry that adheres to your tooth, when a dentist builds up the tooth. What's the product made of, what's it called, what brand name is it purchased under, and where could I buy this product (website please).

Cosmetic dentistry question?
There are hundreds of products and 50 different shades to choose from, also you need a bonding system along with the type of composite. It can only be purchased through a dental supply company. You need more facts on what you want.
Reply:i have veneers and they are stuck on there with cement.
Reply:What they usually use is an epoxy resin that's mixed to order, and it's a special dental product, not the sort of epoxy you'd buy in a hardware store (that would be the wrong color and likely poison you as well).

If you need a tooth built up, see a dentist. If you don't, don't mess with this stuff, it's not for kids. DEFINITELY not the sort of thing to play with for Halloween fangs, if that's what you were thinking of.
Reply:You could buy the stuff and have no clue now to use it. They all come with directions, but not with experience. They can not be used by anyone other than a dentist according to federal law. If you were a dentist you would not be asking this question.

But to answer your question, yes I know what it is, what it's made of and where to get it. You don't stand a chance of purchasing it or knowing how to use it if you do.

Cosmetic dentistry not finished and i swallowed a tooth...?

hi

has anyone that had extensive cosmetic dentistry ( ie implants, crowns and bite adjustment) had any problems with the fitting of it all? What happened in the process and how long did it take for you until you got the teeth you always wanted? Have you swolled any of the teeth in the process??

My work started 3 years ago, when i had several implants. They went ok and then i went to another dentist to get crowns fitted on all the teeth implanted. Because the bite would no longer be correct, the dentist had to " re- adjust" it and it is taking ages.. Went to the dentist 25 times, sometimes for 4 hrs appointments... As i am now at the latest stages ( before my finished polished and glazed crowns can be fitted) my dentist is fitting my teeth provisory- and is not cimmenting them properly so that he can take them out easy. The problem is, i swallowed one "unfinished" crown and i am annoyed because I cant smile! Is it normal for one of your teeth to come unglued and swallow it?

Cosmetic dentistry not finished and i swallowed a tooth...?
I would say no its not right i have crowns fitted and never had one come loose...Are you sure about this dentist ? could you not get another opinion.I think it disgusting you should have to go through this if it was me i would be kicking up a real storm don't sit back and take it complain my dentist would be going mad about this sort of treatment.... GOOD LUCK
Reply:I have had 2 permanently fixed crowns break off in the past, never swallowed one though. Get your rubber gloves on, beware of biting yourself on the ***.

Cosmetic Dentistry?

Is it possible to have a gap or my teeths pulled together instead of having veneers put in?

Cosmetic Dentistry?
depends how big the gap is .. but generally yes.... just with a white filling.. good luck.

Cosmetic dentistry?

ok so i know what it is but i was wondering how they do it and how long it takes. I've seen people who have had big gaps in their teeth and everything and they have came out with a million dollar smile. so how do they do it!?

Cosmetic dentistry?
Good answer from Redz. I would only add a few comments--

If you're closing gaps, they can be closed completely using either resin bonding OR laminate veneers. But if the spaces are really big this will make the teeth look way too wide, so sometimes compromise is necessary between eliminating the space and tooth size. This will be true for either bonding resin OR veneers. For this reason sometimes orthodontic treatment is combined with these cosmetic techniques.

Usually some thinning of the tooth is advisable when using laminate veneers. Some labs advertise as "no grinding required" but if you are looking to use a lighter shade than your natural tooth color then a veneer that is too thin will have to be opaque, and this looks phony.

Porcelain veneers can stain, but the stain is on the surface and can generally be polished off. Resin actually absorbs stain. This is a bigger factor if you smoke, or if you drink a lot of coffee, tea or fruit juices.

Reply:This can be fixed in two ways, bonding or veneers. Bonding is where they take a thick liquid like material and put it on the side of each tooth where the gap is. The material is then cured with an ultraviolet light and it gets very very hard, like a tooth. They do this on both of the fornt teeth untill the gap is closed. The two front teath are still separated but the gap is not large. The only thing about this is that the two front teeth may end up looking very large and wide depending on how big the gap is to begin with.

Veneers are similar to a lee press on nail. It is a thin material that is bonded to the front of each individual tooth. It is fabricated in a dental lab specifically for your tooth. It can be made into any shaped size and color, so it can be made large enough to fill gaps. People usually get veneers put on the front 10 teeth on the top and sometimes the bottom, it all depends on which teeth show when you smile. When you get a full set of veneers, you can totally change the look of someones teeth... drastically. You can also have them made in the brightest white there is called hollywood white. Veneers also never stain so they will always stay white (you still have to brush them to get the crud off!).

I think bonding can be done in an hour or so, but good quality veneers take about 2 or 3 visits because measurements have to be taken along with pictures so they can be made at the lab. then they have to be 'installed'. The dentist office that I worked at charged $1000 per tooth which inclued everything.

Cosmetic dentistry?

is a partial concidered cosmectic and false teeth?

Cosmetic dentistry?
Cosmetic usually refers to something that doesn't necessarily have to be done. It is an elective procedure like veneers, or bonding, bleaching your teeth. A partial would be considered more restorative or prosthetic.
Reply:This sounds like an insurance-related question. A partial is made to replace a missing body part (your tooth) and is therefore generally not considered "cosmetic" by insurance companies. That doesn't mean that it won't make you look better, though. :-)
Reply:Cosmetic dentistry is not necessarily fake teeth. It is also including bleaching teeth which are not naturally white like that. It also includes veneers (basically tooth covering) porcelain covering rather than the metal coverings and sometimes white fillings are also considered cosmetic dentistry. False teeth..depends on what you are talking about. Implants are cosmetic but dentures are not.
Reply:Implants are not generally considered a cosmetic procedure.

In insurance terms, most procedures which restore functionality of the teeth, rather than appearance only, are not cosmetic.

Implants, fillings, dentures, crowns, bridges, all help the mouth to function - to eat and talk.

BTW, replacing a missing tooth with an implant is good for the mouth - it isn't just for looks.

Cosmetic dentistry?!?

i was 9yrs old when i got braces they were removed when i was 12 yrs old. i am now 18 yrs old. my enamel on my teeth are ruined and also discolored. to fix them i need veneers which cost starting at $500 per tooth. i just want my teeth fixed rite now and i am willing to also negogiate also. do i have a case or not? thanxxx

Cosmetic dentistry?!?
Do you have a case? I dont think you do.. the discoloration is usualy due to not taking care of it as well as you should. You really have to go the extra mile for braces, Plus since you waited so long to even make any sort of case, they can poke many holes in your case.

They can turn it around on you and sue you for the costs of the case, because they can say that you didnt take care of your teeth during and after braces. You really have to follow the intrustions they give you down to the T .

If you go back to the dentist you had before he might give you a discount... thats about it... you dont have a case, sorry .. you waited too long
Reply:Not really, unless there was proof that the braces were "faulty", other people having the same problem with the same type of braces, etc. You can talk with your insurance company or with the maker of the braces and see what happens.

Usually, discolored teeth and enamel are caused by poor diet, tons of sugary sodas and candy, and poor calcium intake. Drugs (illegal, prescription, and over the counter) can also affect your teeth.

Most insurance companies will not cover cosmetic dentistry, unless you have a high-end insurance plan, but even still, you may have to pay a deductable.

Cosmetic dentistry?

My 2 front teeth stick out more than the rest. Not really badly but enough to make me paraniod about them. Had a brace when i was younger but it wasnt a fitted one so i hardly ever wore it.(was only about 9 wish i had now). Anyway was wondering if anyone else had this problem and had crowns or veneers to fix it. If so how much did it cost. I went to a dentist to ask about it but he said i was too young - im 23.

Cosmetic dentistry?
You could get veneers, make sure they're pure porcelain or else they will look bad. (No metal).

Go see another dentist. Many dentists do these with excellent results.

Cosmetic dentistry.......?

i want my teeth sorted out - have you had any work done and what? are you pleased

is £75 for a consultation alot?

Cosmetic dentistry.......?
i have braces too, im paying €4000 for them in Ireland, they have really straightened my teeth, dont look bad, arent painful and so worth it!!
Reply:i wanted cosmetic dentistry but my dentist told me how bad your teeth end up (even if they look good) and reccomended i get braces which i did ive had them almost a year and and am getting them off in three weeks they look great i can beleive the difference they have made and they are all natural i am getting them whitened after i get them removed though. if you can get braces i would reccomend this option rather than veneers etc yes it takes a long time but they are your teeth and the year has flown by for me. also i know someone who paid £15000 on cosmetic dentistry and the guy said they would last 15 years but she had to have them re-done after 51/2 years. have you got the money available to you if this happens? think hard about it dont rush into anything. whatever you decide to do good luck!!!
Reply:Cosmetic dentistry is a field of dentistry that has become increasingly popular over the last decade. Cosmetic dentistry focuses on helping a person feel better about him or herself by improving the appearance of the mouth and smile. While traditional dentistry focuses on maintaining oral hygiene and preventing, diagnosing and treating oral disease, cosmetic dentistry focuses on improving the appearance of a person's smile and mouth while providing restorative care in some cases.

Some of the more commonly performed cosmetic dentistry procedures currently in use include:

Dental Fillings

Bonding

Dental Veneers

Teeth Whitening

Dental Implants

Cosmetic dentistry?

what you think?

Cosmetic dentistry?
I think that before you have it done you should have a consult since its not reversible. If its something you really want to do I say go for it but after you get all the info. It doesn't hurt its just a lot to get use to. But in the end I think you will be pleased!
Reply:It has it's place.

Can be helpful to replace buck teeth and gaps.
Reply:costs an sbsolute fortune! but if you can afford it have it done... you use your teeth every day so it will be money well soent i think?
Reply:I don't like seeing signs that say "Cosmetic Dentist" when I have a toothache.

I'm sure it has it's place, but I think it's overdone and of course most dentists are trying to jump onto the money bandwagon.
Reply:Id like to have it done as my teeth are quite yellow from years of tea drinking and smoking! A good idea in theory but of course, as with all cosmetic procedures, some people can go too far. There is such a thing as teeth that are too white lol xx
Reply:what procedures are you talking about... there are composite (teeth colored) fillings, veneers, crowns... even invis-align can be considered cosmetic. You would have to be more specific. Is there something you are interested in changing?
Reply:Definitely, "Yes!!!" Take a look at yourself, you only have 'one' smile, and that smile can take you many places that a frown never could. The smile is one of our most effective means of expression. If your planing on ever being in sales of any kind, or dealing with other people in any capacity, your smile can make or brake you. Now, Ill be the first to admit that it's easy for me to write to you suggesting cosmetic dentistry, but how do I suggest your going to be able to afford it? I mean, if you had the money handy, you probably wouldn't be asking the question in the first place, you'ld simply be getting the work done. However, cosmetic dentistry can be very expensive, so what do us normal everyday people do when we need the help that usually only is available to the wealthier folks? This is where I believe that I can be of help to you, and many others who may well be in the same situation. My name is Kenny, and I am an IBO for a company called AMERIPLAN, which has affordable DENTAL PROGRAMS available! Individual plans cost $11.95 per/month, or you can cover everyone living in your home for only $19.95 per/month. This is a Discount Program, and not an insurance policy. Everyone is excepted, regardless of age or situation, (with the possible exception of being in the middle of an orthadontist treatment). here are just a few examples of the savings thats available: Braces 4 children, normally $4500.00, $5000.00 4 adults, with AMERIPLAN DENTAL childrens braces are discounted to $2000.00, %26amp; adult cost $2200.00. To get a Porcelain Crown normally runs $1192.00, w/AMERIPLAN DENTAL $525.00. These savings reflect a 56% reducion in cost, saving you %26amp; your family literally thousands of dollars worth of dental work. These saving are for real!!! Please, check out my web site at www.deliveringonthepromise.com/40492238. I've become a member of AMERIPLAN DENTAL because I believe in helping others. Once you've joined %26amp; saved some money, you'll be joyous to share AMERIPLAN DENTAL with your friends %26amp; family as well. I hope this helps you make the important decision to have your work done. Have a blessed day!!!
Reply:First of all, Kenny is dead wrong. No reputable "cosmetic dentist" discounts their work. The lab fees alone would make deep discounts ridiculous.

You should know two things:

ALL dentistry is cosmetic - at least in part. EVERY restoration should be aesthetically pleasing.

There IS no recognized specialty called "cosmetic dentistry". The ADA does not have such a designation, so any dentist can call themselves that. Doesn't mean they are outstanding in that area.

Cosmetic Dentistry?

I would like my front 6 teeth restored. A large front tooth might have to be pulled, resulting in bridgework. Can a regular dentist align and cap teeth to correct staining and chipping and alignment? Also, can tobacco and coffee stains be effectively removed from bottom teeth as well? How long would this process take? Thanks

Cosmetic Dentistry?
A general dentist can perform the sort of dental treatment you are talking about. Tobacco and coffee stains can be removed but they are difficult stains to remove easily. How long would it take? Several appointments would be needed and your dentists would be the best person to answer this question for you.
Reply:yes!!!

Cosmetic dentistry?

Hey everyone. I was just wondering, I wanted to get my teeth whitened, how much would it cost ( at the dentist, like Zoom whitening or something). Also, my two front teeth are SO BIG!!!! blah i dont like them.. does anyone know if there is anything the dentist can do about the uneven lengths of the teeth?

Cosmetic dentistry?
I had Zoom done about 6 months ago and it cost $400. It also came with a take home bleaching kit to keep them white.

They can most likely shave down your front teeth to make them even....(not sure what that will cost)

Cosmetic Dentistry?!?

My teeth are relatively straight, except my canine teeth (or "eye" teeth) stick out way further then the rest of my teeth, and there very pointy. They're also uneven, one tooth is way longer than the other. How can I get this fix with cosmetic dentistry? What would they have to do (bonding, reshaping, recountouring, veneers) ? How much would it cost about, and what age at the youngest would they be able to do it (im 15 btw). Thanks in advance!

Cosmetic Dentistry?!?
They would more than likely reshape the teeth and do bonding. I was just in the dentist this morning to get a cleaning and I talked to them about bonding. My teeth are perfectly straight, but the way my eye teeth are shaped there is a bit of a gap...nothing major but since I'm anal about my teeth, I want to get it fixed. They said it would cost around $220.00 PER TOOTH...and thats w/ insurance. Its because its considered cosmetic surgery. Hope this helped!

BTW you could get it done at your age.
Reply:you can just get them sanded down a bit from your dentist to make them even %26amp; not as long
Reply:Depending on the amount your teeth are sticking out and down, you could have simple enameloplasty(reshaping and recontouring) done. This should not be done if a lot of tooth structure needs to b removed as this would cuase sensitivity. Also first keep on eye on ur teeth and make sure that they are not moving. If your canines are sticking out already, you probably have impacted 3rd molars. You would want to consider removing these as they will cause even further crowding. Generally between 18 -24.

Good Luck

when you do csmetic dentistry they wont want to make up a gap in your teeth by making one or 2 bigger, it will usually involve making several teeth bigger so its not noticible.
