How important are teeth?

Will you keep your teeth at all costs? Will you consider cosmetic dentistry if you can afford it?

How important are teeth?
Teeth are important....so is a heart and liver....there are options. At ALL costs? No. I was faced with that...shelled out thousands and thousands and thousands to keep them....bad genes, not lack of hygiene.....anyway it was children or me? Food or me? Utilities or me? The needs of the many sometimes outweigh the vanity of 1. You can gum food...say no to others. There's always a blender......I wish I wasn't forced to choose....but I was. It's not like someone signs up for it, or grows up just waiting for the time to get dentures.......it's something people have to deal with and proper dental care isn't the only reason for why they loose theirs. I had more root canals and caps and fillings.....they crumbled like chalk after I had my kids. Bones started weakening. Guess the body needed the calcium and I didn't have enough even with supplements....so my teeth went to make up for it.

(not to mention certain medications cause dental decay)
Reply:Yes and yes.
Reply:Yes
Reply:very you need them to eat
Reply:Very important, gotta love seeing pearly white gnashers when that person you like smiles at you.
Reply:They're not if you like soup.
Reply:Yep 2x.
Reply:teeth are extremely important. most important function is to chew food, if i can afford it, i would definitely get a cosmetic dentistry, a nice smile is priceless.
Reply:Teeth are your life. You do not want to ever get shafted having to wear dentures. Cosmetic dentistry is a bit overkill though.

Gentle, regular brushing and flossing are key.
Reply:unless you love soup then they are very important,I would do all I could to keep mine.
Reply:yes!! teeth are very important and if you dont take care of them you can even die :]
Reply:How long can you live on HUMMUS and OATMEAL. Keep Your Teeth.
Reply:I need fillings but just don't have the money. When I win the lottery that's the first thing I'd have done-I'd have the whole lot. Natty you're reported yet again!
Reply:Both my husband and I have our own teeth. He is 75 and I am 72.We put this down to the care our parents took over our teeth which has made us take care, too. We visit the Dentist

every 6 mths.( 236 miles round trip ) there is a scarcity of dentists where we live.Apart from the "clean and polish" we have had a clear trip for the last 2 years.I hope that we won't

ever need cosmetic dentistry.
Reply:Yes. Teeth are vital! But, if I did not have the money then no. I would rather have bad teeth than be in debt.
Reply:That's the first physical thing I notice about a person!!! I have lots of cosmetic done to my teeth!!! I have nightmares that my teeth are crumbling!!! When I wake up it's such a relief!
Reply:Teeth are very important! Especially if you want to eat! Bad teeth can also cause major health problems, like heart disease. The cost of, root canals, root scaling, crowns, dentures, implants, is not pretty. Brush and floss everyday, focus on every tooth! As far as cosmetic, it think it can do a lot for someones self esteem, but your health is most important.
Reply:My teeth are important to me, but I will not go as far as saying that I will keep them at all cost. I lost my upper teeth several years ago from various things. Lost all but seven of my lower teeth as time has gone on. I do have the upper dentures now, no problem with them.

No cosmetic dentistry for me as most people that has had that done that I know has had to go get all their teeth pulled in the end any way.
Reply:Yes I would like to keep the ones I have until the end.
Reply:If I could afford it I would have gotten implants years ago. I am missing two lower front teeth, all but one molar in the upper left, two molars lower left and have one gold cap upper right and one cheap cap lower right and missing one molar there. The left tooth of my two front teeth is broken and I have a cavity on the upper right fang.
Reply:Very if you find mine please let me know
Reply:Teeth are important but dont worry about getting cosmetic surgery on them if people say they look bad
Reply:teeth is life quality, image and busness...who can make busness with bad teeth
Reply:As long as I can afford "all costs" -- functional, cosmetic a minor consideration.
Reply:I've spent a lot of money on my teeth and I really like them.

Wally is there a dental school anywhere around your town?

That's where I took my son many years ago to get braces when he needed them and I couldn't afford them. They still do that probably....you pay according to what your income is.

Also there is help at other clinics etc. Look in the phone book.
Reply:Your teeth are the foundation of your face. You should get them fixed no matter the cost.
Reply:I went out with this old bird once and she gave me a love bite, when i got home her dentures was still in my neck.
Reply:try eating or talking without them..I would keep them @ all cost, but forego cosmetic procedures..unless I happened to break them or something like that..I would not have veneers or whiting done just for the heck of it..
