Any opinion on a dentist that uses a lab to model front crowns vs. one that does it himslef?

Is one necessarily better than the other? My regular dentist sent off to a lab to make a model of my teeth with crowns, and another one says he does that work up himself whose main practice is cosmetic dentistry.

I dont know which is a superior method.

I dont know if this is another way to judge or not, but my regular dentist's office is always really busy and the cosmetic one wasnt only one person in there when I went. He spent almost an hour talking to me about it, where my regular dentist is really busy and doesnt spend a lot of time explaining it but you can write him an email.

Also at my regular dentist I had my 2 cavities filled and when I was at this cosmetic one he said I had several. I dont know who to believe on that.

Questions thoughts comments? I just want to make sure I have the right dentist do the crowns in the front of my mouth.

Any opinion on a dentist that uses a lab to model front crowns vs. one that does it himslef?
This is the age of specialization. Most dentists don't want to make crowns, they want to send them off to a lab where someone makes them all day and has been doing it for years and years. A dentist has enough skills to learn!

A dentist who specializes in cosmetic dentistry might make his own crowns, especially in the front, because that's related to his specialty.

I lost some front teeth in a motorcycle accident years ago. My dentist (who is a GREAT dentist!) sent the crowns out. I was worried that they might look artificial because I've seen people with false teeth that I thought looked artificial (like really old people with big perfect shiny white teeth in front). But when they came they looked very natural! In fact they are nicer than -real- teeth!
Reply:My mothers dentist did that recently also, took impressions of her teeth and sent them to the lab so they can make a mold...many dentists do that....I prefer that, than its quicker...it doesnt make one dentist better than the other....thats pretty much all the dentists I have dealt with in the past do......

As far as your dentist not having time to talk to you!!! thats not good, and they should at least give you some time to ask any questions, regarding your concerns which would be normal.....I know some offices are super busy but thats no excuse, you are a patient too....

As far as the cavities, did your dentist take x-rays? or were these cavities you had before and were do for another filling?

Did the cosmetic dentist, take x-rays to determine you had several cavities? besides, your primary dentist would have all the x-rays of your mouth. Stick with one doctor, so there are no confusions........If you are NOT happy with someone's services, than you should consider another dentist....there are many great dentists out there and that would at least talk to you after a visit and answers any questions or concerns you may have.......if they are to busy for you, than you should go elsewhere.....
