Does insurance pay for cosmetic dentistry?

There isn't any dental insurance plan that pays for cosmetic dentistry. That's why it's cosmetic. Insurance is only provided for when you NEED to have something done. It would be like using your renters insurance to re model your bathroom. They're not going to pay for you to have a procedure done just to make you look pretty.

Does insurance pay for cosmetic dentistry?
depends, if it is needed to be functional. You need it to chew or speak properly.
Reply:Don't count on it unless it is an extreme circumstance. I recently had to have a full mouth extraction (I'm only 40) %26amp; while insurance paid some on the dentures, I was still responsible for roughly $1,800 before everything was said %26amp; done. The idea of implants was not even an option as my cost would have been in the tens of thousands. And, just so you know, we have one of the best dental plans out there, made even better because of where my husband works.

Insurance will help cover bridges, dentures %26amp; that sort of thing, but if you are considering something that is purely cosmetic %26amp; that could be taken care of by another method (such as dentures), you are on your own.

Good luck!
Reply:Nope, they sure don't. I have tried to get my dental insurance (BCBS) to pay for my cosmetic procedures and they refused every time.
